Package testing services ensure that your packaging protects your product. Our packaging test services simulate what could happen to your product as it goes through the distribution and storage stages.  Professional package testing services are an essential part of bringing your product to market.

Compadre's Packaging Test Services, located in Austin, Texas, is the largest ISTA Certified Test Lab in the Southwest.  Our Packaging Design Engineering team has over 75 combined years of packaging design experience.   Our ISTA certified lab provides package test services, including ISTA testing and ASTM D4169 and D4728 and other ASTM Testing.  More about ISTA and ASTM Testing.

Your packaging must be tested for its ability to withstand harsh transportation, storage and operating environments. Our testing services simulate the environments the packaging is expected to endure. Compadre’s package test services enable you to deliver a product to market in compliance with industry regulations, and help reduce the possibility of product damage and costly product recalls.

We understand that your product - and its packaging - will be tested as it goes through the distribution system. To prevent problems, the shipping industry, ISTA, ASTM, and Compadre recommend that you first test your package design in a controlled environment called pre-shipment performance testing.  Compadre's package testing services include warehouse stacking, environmental testing, transit testing, shock testing, vibration testing, accelerated aging testing, and more.

Compadre’s team of engineers and technicians will help you to determine testing (pass/fail) criteria, complete the testing, and deliver comprehensive test reporting and documentation.

Atmospheric Conditioning (Accelerated Aging)

Temperature and humidity conditioning is recommended to simulate transport, warehouse environments, and shelf life.  Accelerated aging qualification testing allows for the shelf life of a product to be rapidly determined without having to wait for the actual shelf life expiration.

Compression Testing (Warehouse Stacking)

Package compression testing verifies the stacking strength of packaging materials.  Force weight is determined by a load formula and tested on a compression tester or constant load weight tester.  These tests guide the selection of packaging material and help to avoid crushed boxes and pallet stacking failures.

Vibration Testing (Transit Testing)

Package vibration testing simulates vibration frequencies to which packaged products are subjected during carrier shipments.  Random and fixed vibration testing can simulate real world shipping environments and help assure safe, intact delivery of your products.

Impact Handling (Shock Testing)

Impact handling testing simulates shocks to packaged product from material handling during shipment.  Shock testing also helps determine the fragility and structural integrity of packaging designs.
